Catterline, an inspiration and subject for artists over decades is back in the frame.

In the summer of 2003, the Catterline Arts Festival, sponsored by the Kincardine and Deeside Arts Forum, KDAF, attracted hundreds of visitors. The village became a gallery, displaying the works of Joan Eardley, Lil Neilson, Annette Stephens and various contemporary artists in the dramatic setting of the cliff top cottages, rural houses, church and restaurant, The Creel Inn. The Arts Festival, buoyed by its success this year is now to become a bi-annual event.

To continue the momentum, the Creel Inn, which currently has stewardship of Joan Eardley's, Fishing Nets, is now giving its walls to exhibit the work of contemporary artists, and will take no commission. Rather, the owner of the Creel, Robert Lindsay is keen to foster the spirit of the artists' village by lending the Creel as a venue.

Artists wishing to exhibit their work at the Creel are encouraged to contact Robert Lindsay (tel. 01569 750254)
